A frightening crimson mask with a mustache, bushy eyebrows, furious eyes, and an abnormally long nose. illustrates a tengu, a haughty trickster character from Japanese legend. Because of its phallic nose, it may be associated with wickedness, rage, harsh or malicious behavior, and sexual innuendo. may also symbolize goblins, trolls, and other mythical or magical creatures. Goblin was added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015 after being accepted for inclusion in Unicode 6.0 in 2010 under the name "Japanese Goblin".
