A yellow face, usually partially covering one eye, with a half-frown and a white bandage wrapped around its head. may allude to both emotional and physical suffering, occasionally for comedic effect.

Unlike other smileys that represent illness, like Nauseated Face (which looks like it's about to vomit) or Face With Thermometer (which is particularly useful for colds and flus), this one is special. This emoji from Huawei features a headbandage and a severely injured eye.

In 2015, the Face with Head-Bandage was approved for inclusion in Unicode 8.0 and included to Emoji 1.0.
