E5.0 zany face, Emoji

A yellow face with wide eyes in a crazed, cockeyed expression, its head cocked, and its tongue hanging out of a large grin. Usually used to convey humor.

Usually used positively, it connotes being silly, having a good time, and partying. Can be applied to something or someone who is out of balance. Previously, WhatsApp and Microsoft wore a full-toothed smile rather than an open mouth with a sticking tongue, which looked more sinister and less comical. The Google design once featured a grimacing mouth, which read as more unsettling than humorous.

In 2017, Zany Face—also known as "Grinning Face with One Large and One Small Eye"—was accepted for inclusion in Unicode 10.0 and included to Emoji 5.0.
