A golden face, a little open eye, a frown that was still open. Samsung's design has a tongue and upper teeth. Though the meaning can vary greatly, it might imply moderate melancholy, disappointment, worry, and amazement.

An angry-looking visage was depicted in an early Microsoft design.

Emoji 1.0 included the Frowning Face with Open Mouth in 2015, after it was approved for inclusion in Unicode 6.1 in 2012.
